QUESTION: Why is there sometimes a diminished return with glutathione, and the benefits seem to plateau?
ANSWER: This document is about what we did to help the GSH work in a radiation injury model of neurodegeneration. What we were finding is that with a lot of the neuro cases the GSH dose had to go up and up with sort of a diminishing return. It was pretty obvious that co-factors were likely being depleted… so after some research the major co-factors were assembled and they basically are B2,3,5 – Mg, Se, Zn and ASC. We decided to use the radiation injured folks as it is a good model of neurodegeneration. The attached is the power point from a presentation about the project. You absolutely don’t need the “beefy” IV listed, but for radiation burned nerves we shot for the bleachers – and it worked. So for neurodegenerative conditions I use this type IV (you’ll see Methyl B12 and 5MTHF are options – but I almost always add them). And with this we have not needed to go much above 2-4 grams GSH and the diminishing return is not an issue.
